In our group we have decided that we will all have an equal say in everything but primarily our roles are:
- Camera operator - Mo
- Sound - Dawn
- Director - Lillie
- Lighting -
- Producers - all of us
The camera man is the operator of the film or video camera. In film making the leading camera operator is usually called a cinematographer.
The camera operator is responsible for physically operating the camera and maintaining composition and camera angles throughout a giving scene or shot. In narrative film making, the camera operator will collaborate with the director, director of photography, actors and crew to make technical and creative decisions.
Director
Directors are responsible for creatively interpreting the written script into actual images and sounds onto screen, this can involve planning locations, shots and anything else that changes the feel of the film. They are also responsible for coordinating staff on set, directing the shooting table and ensuring deadlines are met.
Lighting
The lighting normally used in film making is either low key, high key or natural lighting, the choice of lighting depends on how you want the film to feel. Low key lighting could connote danger or fear and high key lighting could connote happiness and wellbeing.
Producer
A film producer oversees and delivers a film project to the film studio or other financing entity, while preserving the integrity, voice and vision of the film. They will also take on some financial risk by using their own money, especially during the pre-production period, before a film is fully financed.
The producer is often actively involved throughout all major phases of the film making process, from inception and development to completion and delivery of a film project
